What you need to make them

ingredients for frozen chicken wings made in the air fryer

Ingredient notes & substitutions

  • Frozen chicken wings: This recipe is made for using frozen, pre-cooked chicken wings. This means they are cooked all the way, then frozen. If using frozen, un-cooked chicken wings, you need to cook them for longer.
  • Other cuts of chicken: These instructions work for other cuts of chicken as well, such as drumsticks - as long as they are pre-cooked and frozen. For larger cuts like drumsticks you will need to add 5 minutes to the cook time.
  • Olive oil can be swapped for a different type of vegetable oil. Oil can also be skipped, but helps the wings cook nicely.

Recipe FAQ

How long do you cook frozen wing in the air fryer?

This depends on if they are pre-cooked and frozen, or frozen raw. For pre-cooked and frozen chicken wings you cook them for 10 minutes, for raw frozen chicken wings you will need 30-35 minutes.

No, you don't need to thaw chicken wings before air frying.

Are chicken wings precooked?

Some frozen wings are precooked, and some are raw. Make sure to know which type you're using as the cook time will vary a lot between the two types.

Sauces to serve them with

These wings are a great snack as they are, and even better when served with one or two dipping sauces. Here are my favorites:

  • 5-minute Blue Cheese Sauce
  • Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
  • Chipotle Ranch Dressing
  • 2-minute Gluten Free BBQ Sauce
  • Whipped Feta Cheese (Tyrosalata)
